lose face = 讓別人對你失去尊重，有時候無法被其他字取代，如:

The sales representative loses face with his customers when he continually makes promises he cannot deliver.

但 lose face 沒有 embarrass 或 humiliate 常用。

You are embarrassing yourself = 你讓自己很丟臉
You shame your family = 你讓你的家人丟臉
I am so ashamed of you = 我為你感到丟臉
You embarrass me = You shame me = You humiliate me = 我的臉都被你丟光了或你丟我的臉

值得一提的是，「我的臉都被你丟光了」的意思是，你做了某件不好的事，別人知道了，卻對我失去尊重，因為你跟我的關係密切，例如我們是父子。

而「你丟我的臉」的意思是，你罵我或羞辱我，讓我丟臉。

embarrass, shame, humiliate 都有這兩種意思，得看上下文決定是哪一種。
